REALTOR® Tip of the Week – January 26

Friday, January 28th, 2011

NVBR abides by the National Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics. Compliance with the Code is a core requirement for holding REALTOR® status. As a professional, you represent your client, your company and both the NVBR and REALTOR® brands. You are held to a high standard of professional conduct and business practices … That is why your clients choose you, your fellow REALTORS® enjoy working with you and your positive reputation continues to grow.

In the coming weeks, we will be featuring “Professional REALTOR® Business Practices.” These tips are included in NVBR’s new member orientation program and are a good reminder to all REALTORS®. More than tips, these items are expectations of conduct, and your fellow REALTORS® have a right and an obligation to hold you to these standards.

Respect for the Public and Fellow REALTORS® – Part Two

  • Advise clients of other brokers to direct questions to their agent or representative.
  • Communicate clearly. Do not use jargon that the general public does not readily understand.
  • Be aware and respectful of cultural differences.
  • Be aware of and meet all deadlines.
  • Do not discuss financial details, terms or price with the seller unless you are the listing agent.
  • Do not conduct business while under the influence of alcohol.
  • Promise only what you can deliver and keep your promises.
